Northern England sees lockdown rules tightened

Health secretary Matt Hancock has introduced new restrictions for millions of people following a surge in coronavirus cases. The new rules, which cover large parts of Northern England, prevent people from meeting other households at their homes, either indoors or in gardens. Hancock blamed people not following social distancing rules for the change.

This year's iPhones will be delayed

Apple has confirmed its iPhone 12 range will be delayed from its expected September launch. The company hasn't revealed what has caused the delay but said the devices will be released "a few weeks later" than usual. 

EU issues its first espionage sanctions

The bloc has punished a Russian military espionage unit, four Chinese companies and North Korean hackers for previously launching cyberattacks hitting the EU. The sanctions include asset freezes and travel bans

Netflix is turning Splinter Cell into a series

John Wick writer Derek Kolstad will oversee the transformation of the game franchise, which itself is based on Tom Clancy's book series, into 16 TV episodes. The news follows a partnership between the streaming giant and games publisher Ubisoft.
