Nintendo has sold nearly 20 million Switch consoles

Nintendo has released its earnings for the first three months of the current fiscal year alongside updated sales figures for the Switch. The company says it's sold 19.67 million Switch consoles as of June 30th, meaning the actual figure is likely to have reached 20 million already.

Nintendo is still predicting that it will sell 20 million units in the year starting April 2018 and ending March 2019. So far the company has only sold 1.88 million after three months, which is actually slightly down year on year, but the holiday season will be considerably busier for the company with major titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and the two Pokémon: Let's Go games set for release.

Overall, Nintendo made an operating profit of 30.5 billion yen...

Watch every Smash Bros. character do a Fortnite dance, limbs be damned

Epic Games' Fortnite has clearly transformed the gaming industry, but more importantly, it unleashed a wide assortment of dance moves which have become cultural phenomenons themselves. From the backpack kid's floss dance during Katy Perry's SNL performance, to Thanos who danced his way into Marvel movie edits, every Fortnite dance is a special treat that's made all the more enjoyable by the unexpected places they've turned up.

Fortnite's grand e-sports plans are off to a shaky start

When Epic Games announced that it would be investing a hefty $100 million in Fortnite e-sports and launch a competitive world cup for the game, there was a lot of excitement. Fortnite is already a massive cultural phenomenon, and here was a chance for it to make a splash in the burgeoning world of e-sports. The successful Fortnite Pro-Am at E3 was followed by the launch of Summer Skirmish, a series of eight weekly tournaments featuring $8 million in prizes. But despite some big money and many of the most popular names in streaming, Fortnite's competitive gaming splash has been mostly a disappointment so far.
