Another Pokémon game is still coming in 2019

Pokémon developer Game Freak has been busy with new titles for the Switch. In addition to Pokémon Quest, announced and released today, the developer will also release Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!, for the system this year. But the developer still has plans for a "core" Pokémon game, due out next year, a spokesperson confirmed to The Verge.

Tsunekazu Ishihara, president of The Pokémon Company, promised "a core RPG Pokémon title on Nintendo Switch" from Game Freak in 2017. Few details have been released so far. Whether the game will launch exclusively for the Switch, remain on a handheld system, or be released as a combination of both is still unclear. When asked about launch platforms, the spokesperson...

The Pokéball Plus will help you catch monsters in Pokémon Go and on the Switch

As a supplementary experience to Pokémon Go, Niantic released a watch-like Bluetooth sensor it dubbed the Pokémon Go Plus. The wearable vibrated when pokémon and pokéstops were near as a way to enhance player experience, and now it's making a comeback — sort of. Developer Game Freak announced today that in addition to new Switch titles Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! the company and Niantic have plans for a new peripheral called the Pokéball Plus.

The Pokéball Plus will serve as both a joycon for the Let's Go games and the new version of the Go Plus. In addition to motion controls, it also lights up, vibrates, and makes noises imitating the pokémon inside. According to Game Freak, "when catching a Pokémon in the...

Two new Pokemon RPGs are coming to the Switch this November

The Pokémon franchise is expanding its presence on the Nintendo Switch with two new role-playing games: Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! When both games launch on November 16th, players will get the chance to experience many firsts for the series: couch co-op, mobile integration, and big-screen play, all in the style of Pokémon's traditional RPGs. It's a step forward for Pokémon that begins with a look back.

The Let's Go games draw heavily from the handheld Pokémon titles, but they're also as close to a reboot as the game series has ever come. These new games focus primarily on the Kanto region, home to the original 151 pokémon; the player's titular partner, whether Pikachu or Eevee, prefers to hang outside of...

The Nintendo Switch is getting a free Pokemon RPG today

Pokémon Quest, a "rambunctious action RPG" from Game Freak, is available now for Nintendo Switch via the eShop. The developer announced the game today as part of larger reveal for the franchise's future, which includes two other Switch titles, Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!

To match its cube-heavy, Minecraft-style aesthetic, Pokémon Quest will take place on Tumblecube Island, where players will explore, battle, and set up a base camp via touch controls. The game is focused on the original lineup featured in Pokémon Red and Blue (meaning catchable critters from the Kanto region). In addition to cooking and customizing a base camp, players will also be able to tailor their squad's stats using power stones and...

The Nintendo Switch has an eclectic summer lineup to keep you busy until Super Smash Bros.

The Nintendo Switch is experiencing a bit of a lull at the moment. Following the console's inaugural year, which included the huge hits Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, fans have had to settle for only a handful of new games. Those have included a few fresh releases, like Mario + Rabbids and Kirby Star Allies, and some welcome enhanced Wii U games and indie ports like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Stardew Valley. But it's clear Nintendo fans are waiting for the next big thing, and that next big thing happens to be a Switch version of brawler Super Smash Bros. that's slated for release later this year.

Nintendo knows the new Smash is what Switch owners are hungry for, and the company has...

PUBG owners file lawsuit against Fortnite to 'protect copyright'

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds soared in popularity last year, introducing the battle royale shooter genre to the masses. The popularity of PUBG led Epic Games to introduce its own battle royale mode in Fortnite, a shooter that now dominates Twitch streams and has become one of the most popular games on the planet. PUBG developer Bluehole previously revealed it had "growing concerns" about the similarities between the two games, and now Korean company PUBG, a subsidiary of Bluehole, has filed a lawsuit against Epic Games in Korea.

The Korea Times reports that PUBG is alleging copyright infringement against Epic Games, and has filed a lawsuit for the Seoul Central District Court to determine whether Fortnite has copied PUBG. "We filed the...
