World AIDS Day highlights the gender gap putting men at risk Today, on World AIDS Day, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) has released its new report, Blind Spot , on the treatment and knowledge gap facing men and boys at risk of contracting HIV/AIDs ( Science ). Men are are less likely than women to know their HIV status and, around the world, only 47 per cent of men with AIDS are receiving life-saving antiretroviral drugs, compared to 60 per cent of women.
